GMF-GOUDA AND NIZO FOOD RESEARCH START COLLABORATION BY OFFERING
A FOOD GRADE ENVIRONMENT FOR TEST PRODUCTIONS
OF DRUM DRIED PRODUCTS.

This collaboration will result in the ability to perform pilot-scale production runs with GMF-Gouda equipment in the semi-industrial pilot plant of NIZO food research. In this way product batches for purposes such as market tests or optimization of the production process can be produced on a semi-industrial scale. The equipment of GMF-Gouda will be installed in the existing processing centre of NIZO food research in Ede, The Netherlands. This food-grade pilot plant is approved by numerous organizations. Current certifications include ISO9001, EHEDG, COKZ, HACCP and SKAL. The plant can also comply with Halal and Kosher requirements.

Within this collaborative agreement, GMF-Gouda will supply a complete drum dryer line that consists of mixing tanks, a scraped-surface heat exchanger, a jet cooker, a drum dryer, a double drum dryer and a mill sifter. In addition, GMF-Gouda will provide the necessary process expertise.

NIZO food research will offer the space for the drum dryer line in NIZO's existing processing centre. Clients will also be able to make use of NIZO food research's pre-treatment and final-processing equipment and analytical laboratory. In addition, NIZO food research also offers experienced operators and the necessary research experience. In this way, a range of flakes and powders such as baby foods, lactose, starches etc. etc. can be produced with drum dryers in true food-grade conditions. Product development projects will benefit from the availability of scientific backup in making rapid improvements and achieving results.

In the new production line, the GMF-Gouda drum dryer, and double drum dryer, will be featured performers. Drum dryers are perfectly suitable to dry extremely glutinous and viscous products. Moreover, they are suitable for drying slurries with a low viscosity. Drum dryers offer a high capacity and low product loss, as well as a combination of other extremely favourable properties, such as the absence of material circulation and the lack of accumulation.
